Elementary my dear Watson

Ever had that feeling of watching a movie and just jumping into it? Or wanting to replace a film’s hero with yourself? You know, making witty one liners, delivering epic dialogues, ducking at the right time in a fight, punching you’re nemesis in the face and watching them fall flat in front of you, standing up valiantly to adversary, being mocked at it at first but then saving the day and getting applauded by the whole world at the end…

Yeahh, has an appeal doesn’t it.

I felt the exact way when I saw Sherlock Holmes. It’s a GREAT pic, with awesome acting by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Apart from the scary occult-ish stuff of the villain (I’ve seen The Arrivals, so it really spooked me), the movie was really fun… witty humour mixed with some super action shots!!

Bravery is something I really admire. It’s the best thing. Hence, my liking for movie characters like Maximus in Gladiator, LOTR’s Frodo, Sam, Aragon. Isn’t it awesome, AWESOME, to look at your (and in every film scenario, the world’s too) ultimate adversary in the eye, stand up for the good side, to be able to inspire hope and bravery in others when no one else can… to seem weak materially and in numbers, but strong at heart and pure in desire, to be driven with an unconquerable passion that there’s some good in this world and it’s worth fighting for (Samwise Gamjee, LOTR)to have that ultimate battle, and have an ultimate win.

I'd do anything for that.

Bravery and humour are in plentiful amount in Holmes as far as this film goes. Plus that loveable pinch of eccentricity (which I can relate to :P) makes roles like Holmes and Jack Sparrow surreal for me. It would be great to be able to do them!

Hmmm
So what should one prefer?
Monotony in life…taking it to be a blessing in disguise… free from action that brings catastrophe with it, recognition that comes hand in hand with loss…?

Or how about it? A cool hero acclaimed for your wit, solving crime, getting into life threatening situations and worming your way out of them?

Fantasy can seem so attractive at times, no? ;D

Or how about an amalgam? Bravery and witty humour can be done in real life too can’t they? It’s all about grasping an opportunity when it’s thrown at you and showing your worth. Fantasy can be made into fact. Fiction can be for real. After all, impossible is nothing says Muhammad Ali. He, being a perfect example of true life bravery+ wit, would know.
