THE WILD ROSE BLOOMS

This hazy chill, this bitter frost
Its dreary gloom keeps all light lost
Those Greying clouds, their pesky pour
Drench the air with lasting sour.

The natives here, know not a well,
In dour and dark do they dwell
Their strengths are lost and hearts are scared
Their lives a pity, stand wan and bare.

But yonder now, a hope is there
Stalwart, strong, radiant, fair
‘Tis a sacred gift, the wilderness holds
For those who brave a different road

These valiant few see a precious sight
Of nature’s secret elixir of life
One sight of it clears all their gloom
It is; the wild rose in bloom.

(I wrote this in a night, for the KELS Interclass Poetry Competition... didn't get anything : /
I don't think I can write a better poem than this... Ahhh oh well :(... doesn't stop it from being my fav poem!)

  1. Concept: Natives of a distant land have long gone seen days of good. They're hearts are brim with feelings of cowardice... they lack strength, fortitude, the bravery to fight. The dark gloomy weather symbolises their pathetic existence. But all is not lost, for those who dare. Those valiant enough... who choose to rise, break free from the gloom, those daring enough to think differently, those willing for change.. are indeed rewarded. The road and its journey ends in a gift: a secret beauty of nature. Those who have earned the sight get immediate pleasures from it: strength as well as the elixir to live. They will, victorious now, return back to their homes... perhaps be able to lead their downtrodden folks out of the gloom and towards nature's light : THE WILD ROSE.

The underlying concept is that brave people get rewarded.

  2. The Wild Rose signifies strength too as it is braving those dark cold conditions. It survives and thrives hence is a symbol of hope, later a source of hope for those setting eyes on it.

This blog is strictly NON LITERARY :P it's a place where I just RAMBLE...but yes this is an exception!

  3. You know when I was reading the initial lines of the poem in the my reading list , i thought it is a copy pasted poem of some famous poet ... guess my surprise when I came to know its purely entirely originally your own creation !!! Its a perfect poem :). and its deserved a prize just of the sake of its symmetry , let alone the beautiful meaning behind ! :)

And I love the name : WILD rose ! :)

and above all i love your spirit !! You really warmed my heart with the last line. :)

  5. No need for thanks Captain . The president KELS also said that everyone views literature in their own way. So judging a piece of literature is the last thing that should be done to any write-up. The writer alone is the best judge of her words.
